Introduction
Planwisely supports viewing Nearmap aerial imagery using Nearmap’s API Application functionality.
There are two steps needed before you can start using Nearmap in our website:
- Creating a Nearmap API Application
- Creating your individual Nearmap API Key
Creating a Nearmap API Application
This step must be completed by an Admin of your organisation’s Nearmap Account. This step may have already been completed for you by an Admin (if so skip to the next step).

Creating Nearmap API Keys
After completing the previous step, each individual user in your organisation can create their own Nearmap API Key for use on our website.

You can then take your API Key and get started using it on our website. Your Nearmap API Key will remain accessible in the Nearmap Admin interface if you need to refer to it again.
Using your Nearmap API Key
After creating a Nearmap API Key you can use Nearmap aerial imagery as your base map in our website. Simply click on the layer icon at the right of the map to see the base map list and select Nearmap.
The dialog below will then open and you can enter your Nearmap API Key. Enter your key as it appears in the Nearmap Admin interface. You can choose to save your API Key in your browser’s local cache by ticking the checkbox. This means that you won’t need to enter your Nearmap API Key again in your current browser (unless you clear your browser cache).
Whenever you first turn on the Nearmap base map in our website, you will be prompted to confirm that you are happy to use your organisation’s Nearmap account.
You can select from the Nearmap survey’s available for your current map location by using the date picker at the bottom of the map. The most recent survey is shown by default.
To keep your Nearmap API Key safe it is only used in your local browser session and is not shared with Planwisely or Veitch Lister Consulting.
