Introduction

The OD module allows you to interrogate and view origin-destination data. You can access any open data, as well as any proprietary scenarios that have been licenced.

You can access the OD tool by clicking on in the left-hand sidebar.

Select a scenario

Clicking on the Scenario dropdown will show a list of the datasets that your account has access to. Clicking on a Scenario will add it to the map. All users have access to the ‘Journey to Work’ scenario. This contains Census data on journeys to work. Further information on the data can be found clicking the More Info button in the Properties sidebar.

View zonal data

The currently selected zone is marked with a darker outline. Clicking on any other zone will change which zone is selected. The map and charts will update to visualise data for the selected zone. The default properties of the selection will be shown in the properties sidebar on the left-hand side of the display.

Change properties

Click on any of the display properties in the sidebar, and the map and charts will update to visualise the data with the corresponding settings.

When the direction is set to ‘Origin’, the selected zone is treated as the start point (or Origin) of journeys. Likewise, when the direction is set to ‘Destination’, the selected zone is treated as the finishing point (or Destination) of journeys.

Charts

The charts sidebar is automatically opened when a scenario is selected. This displays summary statistics for the chosen zone and properties. These are again specific to each Scenario.

The charts sidebar can be re-opened using the chart icon in the toolbar at the top of the module.

If labels are available for the scenario, they can be turned on or off using the text bubble icon in the toolbar at the top of the module.

Hiding data

To remove the OD display from the map, click on the eye icon at the top of the module.
